Hooking up Doors (with power windows) to a Stang with manual windows..
i searched and found nothing. i've asked on other boards and nobody knew.
i have 2 doors with power windows/locks and i want to put them on my 97 GT which currently has manual windows/locks.
is it possible? how do i do it?
the doors i have with power windows has the wiring harness cut where it comes out of the door. but its still there... i'm guessing i have to tap into the wires coming from behind the dash maybe?

Well, I'll tell you the way I'd do it. Just find the wires that run the window motors and lock actuators and wire them to a fused positive and ground the grounds somewhere. It'd be cheaper than buying a whole new wireing harness. The switchs work by reversing polarity to the actuators/motors when you hit them in the opposite direction so I think you'll need four hot wires unless you wanted to splice into just one.

As contents said.. youre gonna need to have a positive and a ground source...
I would say run about a 8 guage wire from your battery to underneath your dash. Come off of that wire with a fused box. Probably like a 4 split box. Then you will have 4 hot wires that are fused for your windows and locks.

most car companies use the same wireing harness even if the door is manual. so look inside the pillar and see if there is an extra plug in there somewhere. you may have to take off the kick plate to find it.
