75mm FTW

Look at these dyno graphs

http://www.cnlperformance.com/plenum11.html
I wonder if those are real numbers or what. You can almost never trust a dealers #s because of course they arent going to say it only gives you 2rwhp, or you wouldnt buy it.

Yeah, there is some truth behind that. But C&L isn't making outrageous claims. Their dyno numbers are on par with the average TB/Plenum power gains. Plus they're not specificallymarketing throttle bodies. They're showing the difference between 70 and 75mm throttle bodies (made by other companies)with their plenum and why they recommend the 75mm.

Whats the stock sized TB? Its been 3 years since I had a stang and the last I remember it wasnt worth it to buy a aftermarket TB and plenum. But maybe those claims have changed?

70mm, The Accufab 70mm/elbow makes more power than the 75mm..... it even makes more power supercharged too.
This is not true. You heads will draw in enough air to benefit from a 75mm TB. The plus you get better throttle responce from a 75mm because the smaller the TB the more air you get built up infront of the blade when its closed, so when you stomp on it and the blade quickly opens that air acts like a block and makes it harder for air to get thru the TB. It takes more power to draw that air into the intake then it does with a bigger TB.

an off road H pipe, and a nice catback exhaust..is a must for me,but its your car!

If you want a car that takes mods better, buy an Ls1 or ls2.
Thats not true. Putting a CAI and a throttle body on an LS1 is less of a difference than it is for those same mods on our cars.

Hell, you'll hear one thing from one person and another from someone else. I'm not real smart about a lot of things yet, just trying to learn. I guess the only way is to do it myself and see if I feel it makes a difference and was worth the money. My fear is just spending $500 on a CAI, TB, and plenum and not being able to tell that it did a thing. Then I'd feel like a real *** monkey for wasting $500.

I do have that book and its complete crap and full of miss information along with the other SHM books. I use it along will all of SHM books as coasters so I dont leave rings from my beer bottles on the shelves in my garage. I did just prove you wrong by explaining how a TB works and why a bigger one is better. And Mark99GT also proved you wrong by showing you dyno graphs.

Josh...was your 11-14 rwhp gain with a CAI, TB and plenum combo? Would this be the case with STOCK exhaust? If those #'s are accurate it would be worth it to me to make those upgrades. Would doing CAI TB and plenum with stock exhaust not be all that beneficial due to bottlenecking in the stock exhaust?
