Dyno Tune with Sniper--good deal?
e-mailed a local dyno shop to get a tune for my car
mods: SLP LM1 catback, MAC LT headers, O/R X-pipe, PHP Spacer
for a dyno tune w/ sniper the charge is $450 to $500
includes tune and a 1/4 mile run
is this overpriced?
and one more thing I wanted to know about the sniper tune..
is it like the predator tune where I would be able to do things such as:
Specific for 93 octane
keep my traction control off when I start the car
raise speed limiter
disable rear o2 sensors
calibrate for 255 size tires (stock=245, not sure if this makes a signif difference)
and I think thats basically it..

RE: Dyno Tune with Sniper--good deal?
I doubt that you'll be coming home with the Sniper interface and software, that's $420 all by itself... Sniper sells a Delta Force package for tuners that allows them to save your OEM tune and load a new tune to your car, you then drive home with only a tuned car (and hopefully your OEM and the new tunes burned to a CD). Any changes you'd need or like to make would required that you go back to the tuner or buy a Sniper package.Sniper does also offer a piggyback programmable chip option, like SCT. With that the tuner would load the tune to the chip and it would be plugged into the auxiliary port on your PCM. Returning to stock is just a question of unplugging the piggyback board--I get the impression that this is no longer widely used, however I could be way off base here...
