Car Keys

RE: Car Keys
I didn't want this to happen to me so I bought a spare key on line for about $7.95. You can program the keys yourself but you have to have 2 keys to do it so I ordered one before I lost one of mine. I followed the directions and the key programed perfectly. No further cost.

Yeah, but it still has to be programmed. The cost of they key and to cut it is usually around $40 - $50. The programming is the expensive part.

I have a '97 and True Value made me a copy for $3. My key has no electronics in it (that I know of) so maybe yours is newer and fancier? =)

RE: Car Keys
Do you have any ignition keys at all? If you have 2 you can make you can make a third for like $10. But if you go through a dealer and you only have one or none of the original keys it will cost you over $100.
To program keys you have to have both original keys!!
Insert 1st original key turn it to the on position (do not start engine) turn it back to off,
remove the 1st key.
Insert the 2nd original key and turn the ignition to the on position and back to off,
Insert the aftermarket key (aftermarket keys must have transponders to work) and turn It to the on position. Turn it back to off and your key is now programed.
This does work in the new-edge mustangs so you dont have to spend $150 at the dealer for a third key.
