Default Backpressure Compensation

Well my Father has a 2002 Roush Stage 2, its got 3.27 gears and a Roush CAI. The Stage 2 exhaust system is nothing to brag about and he is into the loud and obnoxious type thing. So for his birthday I bought him a set of SLP LM1's and have them installed so they would retain the Roush side exit location (it took some creative bending) But anyways, the car absolutly screams in the top end, however it falls flat on its face off idle. Is there any way to compensate for this? I'm sure if there is he will lose the top end but thats ok for it wont see track time till the spring, but is there any way to compensate for this in the way of a tune? And he likes his 3.27's thanks guys

i dont know ive never heard of this happening from a cat back. i would say a tune might help get fuel to needed areas plus he will see a little more power overall

Have him throw in steeper gears. When you put on a better flowing exhaust and you get rid of the pesky backpresure you move your powerband up in the RPMs. He needs to get gears to compansate for that and get him into his powerband faster. I would suggest nothing less then 4.10:1 gears.

well side exhaust blows to begin with..it takes away horsepower... tell him to get some intake mods, tb/plenum rai.
you limit yourself ALOT on a 2v when you dont want to change your gears. as oxford said..to get out of the hole your gonna need em. tell your daddy to forget about the 3.27 lol

Gears. The 1 mile per gallon difference isn't gonna hurt him that bad. I get the same gas mileage out of my built mustang with 4.10s as my wife does with her near stock mustang with stock gears.
