smoking coming out of 1 exhaust pipe???
ok today when i was leaving work i started it up and was outside talking to my friend letting it warm up when i saw white smoke coming out of my right tailpipe but just for a little bit. i turned my car off and turned it back on and thats it no more smoke. also on that side i have an exhaust leak were the header meets the head, wich i need to fix really bad and i also just switched to 10w30 because my car is getting older and one of my friends told me to do so when my car started to burn more oil. i did the oil change yesterday and would using a thicker oil cause it to smoke?? or is it a sign of something bad going to happen

it was cold outside but not enough for hte exhaust to make smoke and if it was that cold shouldnt it be comming out of both exhaust pipes?? and hte smoke was not immediate i was prob sitting there for a good 3-5 minutes when the smoke came out and then stopped

You need to fix your leak first.
Then you need to change your oil to a 5w30 synthetic, especially since it's cold out.
With such a heavy oil on cold start ups, the oil is going to be much thicker and take more time to cover the internals.

I got 101,xxx miles and my car was burning about 1qrt and a half between oil changes and I was told that if I switched to a 10w30 it would heal my engine from burning oil, and I bought the car with 70,000 last year and have used fully synthetic 5w30 ever since and have only switched because of my car burning oil? And its not really cold down here in texas last night it was prob about 50+ degrees and I put it in a heated parking garage were I work so it couldn't have been the cold?? Anyoneelse have some ideas
