Damn right! No less time or effort for long tubes or shorties.

Good question. I've been wondering the same thing. It seems to be a viable option but I don't have a clue.

I have beem wondering that also. I doing a PI swap as soon as i decide what all i wanna do, so i can dothem at the same time. So if i can get LTs in there with the heads off the would be awesome.

its basically an all day job. ive heard roughly 6-8 hours for someone doing it the first time. after youve done it once or twice obviously that time will speed up but thats a good guestimate.

I would imagine that it would be possible if you had the clearance to fish the heads and the headers into place together and then just bolt down the heads. You would probably have to remove the hydrobooster though. It would so much easier to torque the headers down properly. This is all theory since I've neverheard of anyone doing it.

I've never put headers on but when I took my transmission out I could tell that it would bea pain.. I actually had to drop my K member just to get my transmission back in around the LT's that were alreadyon my car...

If you do try to do it.. just drop your k member from the beginning.. I thought I could take my transmission out without dropping the K member... I got it out, only by taking the clutch bolts off and letting the clutch fall into the bell housing to clear the input shaft.. There's no way it would have went back in like this though...

Its a pain.. made me hate LT's

it is possible to get a trans in around longtubes, i did it in may. Put the trans on the jack laying on its left side, raise it up and muscle it around the right side header. it's a two person job. The headers also have to be loose. The hardest part is getting the headers to squeeze past the part of the bellhouseing where the starter bolts up to. And you can deffinatly install headers LT or shorties without dropping the K-member. The proper procedure is to lift the motor up a few inches with the mounts unbolted.
