Default S/C and California smog

sorry for the stupid question but I'm thinking about get a S/C for my 02 GT
for the guys running super chargers in california,are they smog legal.

I believe Kenne Bell, Paxton and Vortech all have 50 state legal kits and I'm sure there's others....

Even if the unit is carb legal I have seen ppl fail smog simply becaus the carb sticker is not there...make sure its there!

Yeah, just make sure it has the a carb #. (California Air Research Board). For a listing of stuff that is smog legal in CA, just go to this website. I recommend searching by device and just select Supercharger System/Mod . Once you find the order, you can download a PDF showing all the specs that system is required to meet to fall under the order.

heh yea, I've seen people take the carb label off a 2.1l kb and bolt it to 2.8l ones, just make sure its there and your good to go^^

I would still go to the website and print out the PDF showing that it is indeed smog legal for your make/model/year. Just because it has a carb # doesn't mean that its legal for any car you bolt it up to. For instance, Kenne bell's 2.1l kit is only smog legal from 99-03 according to CARB, but on their site they claim 99-04. The paperwork also goes into detail as to how the system has to be set up....like pulley size, air filter setup, injectors, stuff like that. Also keep in mind that the tune you have on the car will have a lot to do with whether you pass emissions or not.
