Default RE: Shifting an Auto

You can never beat the computer, so don't bother. What you can do is program your transmission to it's peak power rpm shift points as well as max out line pressure for harder shifts. It won't hurt your transmission if you manualy shift, but be careful about redline and the rev limiter will remind you real quick. My car shifts at 6400rpm WOT, but the car is making power at 6400 rpm's. I won't shift past 5650 rpm unless you have your car tuned to make power past that point. I've been to the track and believe me, I ran slower manually shifting. I've a;so turned off the od and still really no difference in 1/4 time. If you like shifting so much with a auto, PA performance, Lentech have auto that you have to manually shift or can do both. IM very happy with my stock automactic and it shift very agggressive and never find a need to shift manually. If it makes you happy, then keep shifting away, just keep in mind your redline and keep it out of continues high rpm's. or you will pay the price with you engine.

Well, I have a 65 Mustang with a T5 and im so used to shifting I love to hear the engine's revs and I don't do it all the time, I don't drive the car as my race car, thats what the 65 is for, I just wanted to know incase I ever wanted to rev it higher only to make it sound better.

Thank you though
