Default Problems: MPH Gauge and Suspension?

i have a 2003 gt, and i just started getting some weird problems. [18000 miles, i bought with 16000 in july]
first the MPH gauge - when its dry out, it does not work, but the RPM's do, when it rains however, it starts to work again for a couple minutes until the car dries off. also the odometer does not update. after a bit of driving constantly, the odometer changes to all dashes, and traction control goes off(wont come back on). the Service Engine Light is on. dunno what it is, but im thinking maybe a loose cable or something? when the MPH does work, like when its wet outside, the odometer updates correctly.

im also wondering if the 18000 miles is true mileage, or if the the previous owner had the same problem and just never fixed it. it was working when i bought it though. hmm.

Now for the suspension -- i've just recently noticed that as i accel from a dead stop, there seems to be a sort of clunking or poping noise coming from the front right wheel area. it also squeeks if i hit bumps.im guessing that it has somethingto do with the suspension? im probably going to be doing shocks struts and lowercontrol arms over the holidays, hopefully that will fix it?

Sounds like you may have a short under the car. The speedo is electronic on your car. There is a sending unit in the tranny towards the back of it. Find it and trace the wires. They may have gotten on the exhaust or something. I don't think it's your cluster becasue it works right when it's wet. As far as the noise goes, check your ball joints and tie rod ends.
