Default Gear Bearings...

Ok I'm putting in some 4.10s pretty soon and wanted to replace the bearings as well because I've got 90k miles. I bought THESE bearings on ebay and my uncle said they were the "outer" bearing and seals and I still need "inner" ones. Is this true? He knows a hell of a lot about cars but I'm just double checking what he's telling me. I'm getting really anxious to put these 4.10s on so any feedback would be great. Thanks.

Matt

I got a Motive install kit from a local shop and it came with everything except bearings. That's why I'm trying to pick some up.

I would go back to that shop and talk to a different person, and get the complete kit.

yeah, most companys sell 2 or 3 different kits. You should be able to get the bearings and races pretty much anywhere. Do you also need both pinion bearings as well??

No I have everything I need with this Motive kit. It has a shim assortment, races, crush ring, blah blah blah, all I need are the bearings, and I guess I need the inner bearings because that ebay auction was for the outer ones, I just didn't know it.

Yeah I realized those bearings weren't the right ones until afterwards, but where can I find the inner ones. Anyone got a link or something.

there are no inner bearings for the axles, they fit into the differential which is supported by the differential bearings which you should already have in the rebuild kit. there are a total of 6 bearings in the rear end, two on the pinion, two on the differential, and one on each axle at the outer end. I guess your uncle was referring to the differential bearings when he said you needed the inner bearings.
