still hate florida but no water in motor
okay i got a CAI and i was driving during a downpour just now and i hit a huge *** puddle. mycar died, i restarted it and it would start fine but wouldnt hold idle. so i drove a bit and it just felt really heavy to drive. then it would stay started but it would bounce kinda fast between like 400rpm and 1800. i heard an odd chirping noise kinda i donno what it could be.
so what am i possibly looking at? im gonna let it sit and start it tomorrow after everythings had time to dry out but what are the possible outcomes of this?

oh and my mechanic has a tractor that had hydrolock, he poured brake fluid into the cylinders and it cleared out the water....he let it sit for a few weeks....dont try this, i dont wanna be responsible for your engine....

i wouldnt pour brake fluid in my motor anyways. believe me tomorrow that piece of **** is getting taken out.
is this possible just a MAF malfunction? spark plugs got wet? something simple?

When I had my focus I sold some dude a manifold I had. He had to meet me to pick it up. After he got it, he emailed me later saying that he hit a huge puddle and hydrolocked his engine. He had to get a new engine.
Just like you, South Florida rain is nuts! Dry one moment, then the next it's a monsoon with puddles 3 ft deep!

Out of curiosity...what type of CAI is it?
Is it one that snakes down to the bottom of your engine bay, is it a fenderwell type, or a regular straight intake?

I hydrolocked once and took the plugs out, poured a little bit of gas in there and cranked it over without the plugs and and let the **** shoot out, put new plugs in and it ran perfect.
