I hope this doesn't come off as a smartass comment, but....why doesn't someone recommend a better cam for his 4v instead of telling him the ones he bought are a waste?

To the OP, what are your goals as far as cams are concerned?

I just want cams that will pass emissions tests in CA and cost less than 1500 lol. I am not expecting too much but my engine is used so I was going to pull the engine and do a rebuild + port the heads. I figured while the heads areoff I should put in a new cam set. I was expecting the cams to give some torque and for $60 that doesn't sound too bad. Thats the same price as a K&n.

Dont even waste you;re time/ money on putting in stock mach 1 cams not even worth it, if you already paid for em try putting em back on ebay, if u didnt get em yet cancel it.
+1, not worth the minimal gain.

I think the FR500 cams are supposed to be pretty good 4V cams. They are pricey tho! I don't know about their smog legality either.

Here is a little info about them...http://home.flash.net/~ivc1/cobra/frcamkit.html

Yeah, considering everything that comes with it, that isn't too bad for a 4 valve cam kit.
