Default Ant 4.6 SOHC owners have 300+ hp with bolt ons?

Hey i was talking to a service advisor at work today he said it wasnt possible to put out 300+ RWHP from a 4.6 SOHC engine with just bolt ons. I argued and told him i would prove him wrong. So post away.....

P.S This whole conversation came from a 96 GT at work today with a Sean Hyland 4.6 stroker motor putting out 5.1 liters. And P-51 intake system, long tubes, throttle body, head work done, x-pipe, flows back, pulleys and chipped. Is making around 330 RWHP.

So does that include a stroked engine? Port and polished heads? Not bolt-ons but with only 281 cubes on tap you have to work harder to make more horsepower. Are cams considered a bolt-on? I think it's a pretty fuzzy line between what is considered bolt-on and not bolt-on. With purely bolt-ons, if you go all the way including ported heads (if they come from a company like Patriot already ported, are they considered bolt-on?) and cams, aftermarket intake, every common bolt-on including CAI + TB + plenum, pullies, full exhaust with long tubes and straight-through mufflers, ignition upgrades, fuel pump and injectors, etc. I think it's possible. You'll get an extra 10 horses or so from synth oil in your tranny and rear end plus another 10-15 with a chip or programmer, so I think it's within reach.

this 300 hp i was hoping to be making does not include the 75 or 100 shot of juice, lmao. this is with my mere bolt ons(i do realize that my drive train mods does not increase my hp,lmao, im not THAT dumb. so yall think im way off or should i be there?

With cams and heads included a 4.6 should definatly be able to hit the 300 mark with bolt ons.

Yeah for sure, with ported heads and cams it's definitely doable. Also, technically, isn't a blower a bolt-on?

You are definatly not making 300 RWHP before the juice. Flywheel you should be making, but not at the wheels.

As to heads/cams being bolt ons, if they are considered a bolt on then everything is a bolt on. In the end, everything is held in place by some sort of bolt. General consensus on this board and others generally says bolt ons include:

Exaust
Intake tract (I would consider the plenum to be the stopping point, not the lower intake)
Pullys

Basically, anything that doesnt require you to remove something else to get it on. AKA, pulling off the valve covers or oil pan. For referenece, usually people say something in their sigs like: Full boltons, cams, intake etc.

But its you arguing with the guy, so if you both consider cams/heads to be boltons, then by all means you can easily make 300 RWHP.

A full bolton GT w/ Ported heads and stage 2 camshafts, plus something like a P-51 Intake should easily approach 325 RHWP. (with a killer tune).
