245/40 is a SMALLER tire, not bigger...

There is about a 1/4-1/2 inch difference in overall diameter between the 245/45 and the 245/40 tire. 245/40has a wall height of110 mm while the 245/40 has a wall height of 98 mm. 25.4mm to an inch.

You just said that the same tire has different wall heights.

Assuming he is stretching that accross a 18x9 wheel, it will. That's why I said I may have spoke too soon. 18x8 and he's fine.

Wrong! RPM's are measure by engine speed. You could put tractor tires on your car and it will read the same rpm's to get the specific hp and tq ratings on a dyno.

Got the tires on there guys. Closes up the fender gap and my car doesnt sit much higher and they look wider and meaner so im happy thanks for all the help though.
