<FONT face="verdana, arial, helvetica" size=2>I FEAR NO GEAR...4.10's were ordered today!!!! <IMG src=smileys/smiley15.gif border="0">
So, now here's the question...RPM outlet had an asterik stating that I needed a modified cross shaft w/anything lower than a 3.73, but I ordered from Dugan-Racing, & he told me that he was not certain as to why I needed a modified cross shaft. Can anybody clarifiy this for me? Also,...is there a better quality fluid that I should use now w/this gear? Thanks ahead of time</FONT>

I just use the OEM fluid with a good friction modifier. Worked great for me. </P>
I have 3.73s so I have no idea about that shaft.</P><edited><editID>Snydaleid</editID><editDate>37894.6699768519</editDate></edited>

Synthetics are always better than OEM...if you want to free up some available HP go with synthetics. Saw like a 10-15 HP gain in a 4.6 'stang when some guys used synthetic gear and tranny fluid. It's just free HP. Plus synthetics have a longer lifespan than petrol.

Yes I have seen dyno test in magazines that get 10-15hp by going with synthetics in the trans and rear axle. You may need a different cross shaft with 4.10 gears because the ring gear is thicker and may hit the cross shaft, some of the cross shafts that I have seen have one side kind of ground off to get the clearance you need to slip the shaft out so you can push the axles in to get the c-clips off.

That is no bulls**t.</P>
If you do synthetic, engine, tranny & rear gear oil you can see upwards of 10-20hp gains.</P>
Mind you, you need to have a tranny flushed correctly if you want to use synthetic, an entire synthetic change could run about 300-400 bucks.</P>

Where's the BS flag when you need it??</P>
Dude do some research before you criticize what I say. It may not seem possible, but I guarantee you it is.</P>

Dan, I take it a "correct" tranny flush isn't simply a drain and refill, could you elaborate a bit so adiy guy like myself could do it? I would feel a lot better about myself if i could free 20 horses from captivity.</P>
