Default pi swap part 1 million 57

soooo as you all know i had a wonderfull knocking and fuel was gettin dumped into my cats.... brought it to school and tore down the timing cover to take a look. The tensioner on the driver side was 1 "click" loose, so we fixed that and igure that was the sound. There was a vacumme leak that also we found ( dumb error by me) and we fixed that. So we start it up and the sound is better...but not gone. , altho we did fix the fuel problem. We did compression test and the driver side was at 200 and the pass at 150 so we pined it to the driver side. We had Mike Dezotell from mike dez racing ( if ne 1 from the new england area hes the man) and he was helping out. So we took off the timing cover and used the ford tool and was able to i belive retard the timing 1 tooth ( it may have beeb advance but i think retartd...) and did a compression test and every thing read 150. So we start ut up and it was night and day....sounds 100 times better....but still a slight knock. The oil was crappy and had some fuel in it, so today i will change the oil and c how things are. We went inside the sarkplug hole with a borescope and things seemed ok, BUT if the sound dosnt go away today the head will be coming off to c if a valve is bentand such. I was hoping to be done by friday since i was going home, but the looks of it i wont have a car for xmas break...totally sucks..but what can ya do?

Did you use the same rockers for the cams in the order that they have been on the motor from the start? Or did you mix them up?

same from the older engine. There ok tho, there is no play in it, we have turned it so each valve will open and close and they dont have any play. Im about to do a cylidner leakage test and c if i have a bad valve. If it comes ok im gunna retard the timing 1 more tooth. Based on the info we have gatherd that will be the next best step. One of the right ups we used for times told us about 2 hrs diff of the location of the driver head ( the problem head) but the same for the pass.( bassed of fords actual placment) so 1 tooth last night made it a HELL of a lot beter, and the way i timed it and the way it "should" be could make it 2 teeth off. So that will be the next thing after the leakage test.

leakage test is ok...no leaks at all. i think its time to take the timing cover off again and retard it 1 more tooth..

Was it timed right? Take the chains off and measure them. Make sure they haven't stretched out. Did you replace your tensioners? If you have to keep moving the chain back a tooth to get your car to run better it's probably out of time. Take the heads off and make sure your pistons aren't notched up. If the timing cover is off the heads are almost off anyway.
