Sudden Piss Poor Mileage, Need Some Thoughts

RE: Sudden **** Poor Mileage, Need Some Thoughts
An exhaust leak could be an issue, however generally that will throw a code. Personally I wouldn't focus on the fuel filter (though if you've got over 50k miles and it's never been changed it won't hurt)--it sounds to me like the engine is getting plenty of fuel...I also assume that your driving habits or locations have not changed dramatically. If one was to go from primarily highway to mostly/all in-town driving a 4-5 mpg might be expected and normal.

Check the o2s and your fuel filter, at the mileage your at the injectors and o2s are probly fine, with that new filter you may have more flow on the intake side, without the exhaust to match, could be throwing off the fuel trims.

Well,I diden`t see where you are from, but in my area (eastern Pa), during the winter we have "reformulated" gas (they blend it with Ethenol) for environmental reasons. It supposedly gives us cleaner air, but it Definitly gives us crappier gas mileage[:@]
