Default RE: Leaded Fuel?

Here's more:
The Unites States and most other countries switched from leaded to unleaded
fuel years ago. The lead additive, tetraethyllead, retarded "preignition"
in gasoline engines. Preignition causes engines to run rough, and to not
shut off when the key is turned off. The suppression of preignition is
measured by the gasoline's "octane rating". A good high-octane gasoline
allows a standard engine to run smoothly. Leaded gasoline also protected
some older car engines from wearing down by covering soft engine parts with
lead-containing material.

There are two major problems with using leaded fuel. 1) Lead is extremely
toxic, and causes mental retardation in children. Lead oxide from car
exhaust accumulates in soil near roads, and children can get it on their
hands from playing outside. They then ingest it, and it causes its damage.
2) Leaded gasoline ruins automobile catalytic converters. As a result of
these two problems, lead in gasoline has been banned in the U.S. Other
additives, such as methyl-tert-butyl ether (which is about to be banned),
had to be used to improve gasoline's octane rating

your still having deotnation? did you ever richen up the mix?

If your detonating you need to S T O P doing so. Its sucide to do so on a stock 2v block. At your power level and setup I am surprised the car has taken it even a few times.

I run leaded 110 straight when I go to the track. Usually 6-7 gallons. It LOVES to eat my wideband 02 sensor. That's about all the problems I've encountered. I bumped timing up 3* on the 150 shot, and the car LOVED it.

I will be running 110 with the 200 shot with about 26-27 degrees of timing, and I'm expecting the car to do much better than if I were limited to 93 octane.

there was a good artile with boss330 in a muscle mustang mag, they showed pictures of the effects lead had on the internals for a motor, aswell as the affects meth injection has on the combustion chamber of the heads, neither looked pretty...

if you dont mind telling me, how quickly will it eat the wideband sensor, i run my car openloop all the time so im not worried about O2 sensors but i have a wideband and i would hate to have to replace it all thetime because of leaded fuel... thats why i stuck with 109unleaded

If you run 100% meth you'll have a problem, not a 50/50 mix

why dont you richen up the mix or pull some timing? maybe a good octane booster. i wouldnt continually push your car if you have any detonation whatever, its not gonna last long.

Leaded fuel burns slower than unleaded. It burns slow enough for the flame to reach your o2 sensors which will burn them up. Just use unleaded 110.
