All those tranny's are great and all, but if you were interested in just using something stock that could hold up, try a 3550, stock holds up to 375FT/TQ. You can get parts for them fairly easy and build them up. And after all, a 3550 is the basis for TKO's.

Hanlon motorsports said my trans could hold about 125lb/tq over stock with their kit (t-45). The kit basicly makes it a T-45R. It comes with high capacity bearing, all new carbon coated syncros, all new small parts (syncro keys, plastic funnels, roll pins, ect). Their number is 610-469-2695 and they are based out of pennsylvania, give them a call and see what they can do. I think it cost me about 500 bucks or so and i did it myself. saved 1500 over a TKO500....

hmm... I may check that out.. thanks!

Well I got the car home today.. Put it up on jack stands about 3 feet off the ground and I swear I think its easier like this than it was up on a lift..

I got the exhaust off.. driveshaft out..bell housing bolts out (except top 2) and got the starter off.. (top bolt took forever)..

When I get the top 2 bolts out I'll be ready to try and slide it out again.. I guess I'm going to try to just lower the K member about 2 -3 inches in the back and see if everything clears.. .

TKO 500 FTW. I am running the 10 spline setup (no idea why, I swapped out the clutch at the time anyway) and its running fine

Its going to be hard to break an input shaft anyway in a centri car 2v. So far as the ratings, the 500 is more than enough for any but the most insane setups. Its hard to make TQ on a 2v anyway, and besides that the transmission is WAY underrated just like the stocker 45 and 3650 (otherwise the 45 would never live to even a stock motor + 100 shot setup).

TKO ftw. x10 smoother shfiting than a 45/3650, and just a better all around transmission.

I dunno, I went with the TKO600 I honestly cant member the price i paid.... install was a pain in the *** :-) Couldnt get the Tranny Mount to fit..
its not about getting the tranny mount to fit all you have to do is grind away the stops on the little bolt hole slidder thingy and align those to the new spot the tranny mount it. the only bitch is getting the old transmission out. after that getting the TK500 in, is cake walk.

well.. A local guy just bought a car from another guy I know who recently put a TKo500 in. Its a bone stock 96 GT.. Have no idea why it has a TKO, but the guy was the type who had money to waste and decided he wanted one.. The new owner has no idea what it is and is needing money.. Hopefully I can work up a deal with him..

The removable bellhousing would dam near be worth buying one..

TKO 500 > any stock transmission in any mustang.
