yeah i have that in my 98gt too, i always clutch out in nutral to spin the transmission a little then clutch back in and shift into reverse. it will make the dog's grind very little but at least you are in gear and dont have to worry about grinding the dog gears with your cars full power... or even shift into fourth like suggested first. (that sync's the dogs with 4th's sync.. doh)

shift into 4th and then into reverse
shift into 4th and then into reverse
I have been told that its not as much the lack of a syncro, but the reverse gear is straight cut.

wow, two people here don't know what they are talking about. The T-45 is reverse syncronized. The best way is to go from 5th straight back to reverse hense there is no lock out like on most transmissions these days. Reverse and Fifth use the same shift fork so it will line it up better to go into reverse better than any other gear.

This works for me every time. Whenever it doesn't want to go into reverse just put it back in neutral, clutch out and clutch back in and it should go right into gear.

+1 although any gear will should work. And sometimes it just takes a quick slam into R, it will have a slight crunch but no grind.
