Default Rad fan motor install

Do I have to remove the shroud. It looks like you can just remove the fan motor and install the new one.
But I cant get it to back out more than half to 1 inch? All the hardware is removed ( 3 bolts
) but it wont back out???

the instructions I have say

1.detach the fan from motor ( How )
2. remove the motor from the shroud unscrewing the bolts. ( Done I think if the 3 bolts i removed from the back of the motor are them )

I think it may be just as easy to pull the whole fan out. I know when I did mine, on a 2003 Gt, it was easier to just pull fan out so you can get to it. Took maybe 5 minutes. I know not the same car, but I hope it helps a little bit.
