The most important part is when you slide the seal onto the crankshaft. That's when it folds over. I found that you can sort of walk it on there, if you know what I mean.

Sometimes its not the seal but the seal housing thats leaking. If it was removed to install the new seal and siliconed correctly on the re-install it will leak around the edges. It is a little tricky to get it right because the alignment pins are very short. Also on higher mileage motors, not yours, the crank seal area gets a groove in it so if that exists then you need to install the seal a little deeper or shallower then the original or you'll run into the same groove, goos luck.
