Default 4.10 gears...traction???

ok I've tossed around the idea of getting gears and yes I have read tons of posts on the topic. I understand the concept of why people get 4.10's, but what I don't quite get is that I have read numerousarticles where people say with 4.10's you are very traction limited in 1st in 2nd gear. If you are running against the same car all things equal except your car has 4.10s and the other has 3.27s how are you going to have much of an advantage if you can't get any traction????

because you're supposed to get stickier tires with the 4.10's, thats why!

well, thats the best thing I could come up with. Its all about the way you drive it, you gotta learn to drive with the 4.10's to master them and get traction with those street tires, its possible, but harder if you wanna just stomp on it and go.

I think getting gears is probably the biggest difference in mustangs but after how I understood how it makes a difference it will require more money than I thought. Not only buying the gears themselves it would have to be Ford racing for best quality, gear oil, and to get the most of this mod: wider gripier tires and to correct things up a speedcal as well

Yeah..I was going to say, I guess if you had slicks on the car and got them all tacky maybe that would be cool, but I'd probably just spin the hell out of my cheapo tires and get my **** handed to me if I ever raced someone.

4.10s you'll either have to feather it off the line or get good tires to get the best out of the gears.

ok lets see what a great suspension will do with rock hard tires. oh yeah still nothing, you seem to forget that tires are the last line to launching and really they are everything.
