Default RE: TB+Plenum question

Here's a link to Accufab's flow data for a variety of plenums and TB combinations (about 1/2 way down the page for our cars). You can see that in no instance (other than the C&L plenum) does a 75 mm TB outperform a 70 mm by any significant amount, and that they all will provide more than enough air for an n/a 4,6L engine (which at 100% VE could only pump 528 cfm at 6500 rpm anyway)...At a more reasonable 90% VE (still on the high end) the most an n/a 4.6L engine could eat at 6.5k rpm would be 475 cfm; all except the OEM plenum can do this with plenty of room to spare. This data also shows that the OEM plenum is themajor weak point, not the TB.A 75 mm TB, at WOT, probably causes a reduction in charge velocity--also probably not enough to matter in the real world. However the 70 mm TB is the sweet point, that's why I got one...

i didnt say it would hurt you to where it would be noticeable, im talking about track times. ive seen it on 3 cars slow down the times rather then help it.like on the 4v's you may not know it but where you stated i dont see how in any case how more air would hurt you? below 3300 rpms a 4v motor is a 2v motor the flaps are stopping airflow to 16 valves, above 3300 rpms the other 2v's open up and it then is using all 4v's if all 4v's were open below 3300 rpm youdsee a decrease intq.

I am getting a CAI with this set up, that wasn't in my question. My next install will be gears as well (3.73's when I get the money). This is in no way going to hurt me because I PLAN to do future mods theres just gonna be some waiting time in there, we all know how that goes. And I'm lookin to increase track times, hell I haven't even taken her to the track! lol

hell its not like the 70mm will be too small for ya, go with it and you wont have to worry about losing power or whatever.
