Default Mach Stereo Flat

Its sounds like the amp(s) are not kicking on for the stereo and it sounds just flat. Think the stock stereo is shot? Fuse blown? Anyone experience this in their stang?

Press in and hold the volume control for 5 seconds (with the radio on) until the display shows SPEED VOL and a number (0 to 7). This is the speed sensitive volume setting, it's probaby set to 0--set it to 5, 6, or 7 and go for a ride...

what is the speed control supposed to do anyways? i just did it on my mustang. i adjusted it and didnt seem to change anything at all. Then i tried it in my wifes 2003 escape with the mach stereo and it didnt even display speed control after doing it the same way as my mustang. Now, im really curious of what it is and what it does. Thanks

As the name implies, it causes the sound system volume to increase as the vehicle speed increases--set to "0" is does nothing, set to "7" the effect is most pronounced. I usually set it to 7 and find that it works quite well, with the most noticable change happening around 40 to 45 MPH.From the '03 GT Owners ManualSound's like your wife's Escape does no have this capability--what does her owners manual says about it?

As far as I can tell it's another of the 2001.5/2002+ things, the 2002 owners manual describes it, the 2001 manual does not. My 2003 and a friend's 2004 both have it--I run mine on 6 or 7 most of the time, here in Florida the windows are down whenever I get the chance...
