Default cooling fan not coming on

My fan is not coming on when it is supposed to and is causing it to overheat. I replaced the coolant temp sensor and it still doesn't come on. I can unplug the sensor and the fan comes on. Any ideas?

It,s hard to say, but there's a control module with relays. The PCM tells the fan what speed to run. Low/High. The Coolent temp sensor is wired to the PCM. Iwould have to do some tests to determine anymore. Low speed is a RED/ORG wire andhigh speed is a ORG/LT BLU wire to the fan. BLK wire is ground. If you can make sure the fan runs at both speeds. Maybe with a jumper.

It does seem to run only on high but I will check it out later when I go to the shop. Are there any other relaysthat you can swap out in the control module.

I'm not sure about a relay swap. Maybe someone could explain the Low/High fan control.

It has power at all times and the CCRM (constant control relay module) cuts the on./off cylce and reduces input voltage for speed. Sounds like you have a short on a wire, or your CCRM is bad! It's located in the inner fenderwell on the passenger side. Inner fenderwell has to come out. The outer fender does not need to be removed! Just the plastic piece for water and mud deflection. There are a few on ebay for like $50 or you can call MPS auto salvage in GA. or contact Rob on ebay. User i.d. mustangrob514. He's great never had any issues.
There is also a CCRM on ebay right now. No bids but it has a reserve. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/MUSTA...spagenameZWDVW

Thanks for the info. I went to my shop and played around with it before I got your answers. I have no power to the sensor plug so I guess its possible the CCRM could be bad.
Do you know if the V6's have the same module. If so I can go to the salvage yard tomorrow and pick one up.

OK I replaced my CCRM today and still my fan will not come on unless I unplug the Coolant sensor also after reading various threads about the ccrm I noticed my A/C comp. is not coming on either. Talked to a tech @ the local Ford dealership and he said if the fan comes on when you unplug the sensor then the relay in the ccrm is not bad or it couldn't tell the fan to turn on. It kinda made sense but it still didn't help me any. I asked what could be causing it and got the standard answer bring it in and let us check it out.anyone have an idea how to bypass or check to see if I have a short, does the A/Ccomp and the fan have some type of correlation?
