Help Fast Please! Unbolting Heads
10 Bolts,
only doing pass. side right now
is there a specific order? do i just break them all loose then finish them in some order?
will just unbolting them in no order hurt anything?
Once this is answered, im going back outside!
appreciated..

RE: Help Fast Please! Unbolting Heads
What Engine is it??? unbolting is no big deal, crack them all loose & go for it.However, depending on what engine your dealing with you might not be able to reuse those head bolts. Some engines use what is called a "tourque to yield"bolt.once those are installed once they can never be reused because they are designed to accually strech when tightened correctly.sooo...If your appilication is a tourque to yield you will have to buy new bolts to reassemble.HOPE THIS HELPS

There is a tightening and loosening sequence. Here is the order to tighten the bolts:
Intake Manifold
7 3 1 5 9
10 6 2 4 8
Exhaust Manifold
You need to loosen the #10 bolt first (bottom left), then follow the order down to #1
To reinstall, start at 1 and follow pattern to 10 (tighten each one 50 lbs/ft, then start the pattern again)
You need to follow this pattern, or there is a chance you can warp the head.
Mustaro is correct, you must use new head bolts when reinstalling (I recomend putting in studs instead of getting new bolts)
