Default im new and want advice from the veterans

i have a 2002 GT that has a cold air intake off road X pipe and magnaflow catback and i want something more for my car. i was thinking about getting bigger gears maybe to 3.73 or 4.10 and maybe get a handheld tuner but i want something reasonably priced that would help my car get alittle more power. im not looking for a 12 second car but something that would make it alittle meaner on the streets. thanks for your help i appreciate it.

I think a good next step for you would be either add a good set of headers since you have exhaust all set up already, or get 4.10 gears. You'll get a decent amount of HP gain with headers, or if you want a good jump, definitely the 4.10 gears will help your accelleration.

Gears can be tricky, you have to have a few special tools, which you might not have. You also have to have a tuner to be able to adjust your car's computer for the different gear setting. You can get a cheap dip switch one, or just get one of the flash tuners.

Unless you're looking for every possible horsepower, longtubes are a poor return for your money. Get the gears[8D]

If you want to do the gears, which I'm doing in the next couple wks, look on ebay for tuners. I picked up my Superchips tuner which retails for $410 for $150 brand new off of ebay. Plus I hear going to 4.10's is a HUGE difference. Definetly looking forward to that!

Amen, couldn't have said it better myself.

Gears and a tune FTW.

You can install gears yourself with no problem so long as you have half a brain, can turn a wrench and can read instructions. If you are serious about it, I'll get you the link to the instructions I used. I had never done gears before and I managed to do the install with no problems. You can use the MHD method to calculate pinion depth (so you don't need a pinion depth tool) and it works great.
