Default rotten egg smell and rough idle - ideas?

So this morning on my way to work my car started to feel like it was running a bit rough when cruising at low rpm and idling, when I came to a stop at work I could smell a rotten eggish smell. Looking for possible things causing this. So far I'm thinking clogged cat or my dad said the smell sounds like an overcharged battery. Anyone else got any suggestions? The car feels normal when I get on the gas. Btw, its a 2000 GT Automatic, 86k miles. All stock except the intake silencer removed.

Thanks.

A bad battery can smell like rotten eggs too. i get those all the time at work. but if the cars running bad, i would say its the cats.

the cats stink because they're probably being bombarded with excess fuel, likely from a misfire..... hence the rough idle

I just bought the car a few days ago too, I was planning on doing a O/R h-pipe. I think tomorrow I'll try to find one I can pickup and change the sparkplugs and see how things go from there. Well before changing them I'll pull them to see how they look. Looks like my guess was right, just wanted to get some other opinions first. Thanks guys.

So a check engine light finally came on and I went and pulled the code. Misfire on cylinder #6. Looks like you were right. Going to go change the spark plugs in a few minutes and hope that cures my issue. Thanks!

before you change out the plugs, get dirt out of the area of plug.

Be carefull, any dirt on the threads, will cause you issues
