your car will not run any faster, you'll be wasting money. You want to run the LOWEST possible octane WITHOUT detonation.
true, higher octane is for vehicles with higher compression or boost so the higher octane you go the more power you hopefully are pushin through the engine. our cars stock should take 87 no problem but if you have a tune for 92 or so and it detonates on 87 or 89 then you want to stick with 92 and no higher. it has to do with the burn of the fuel.
What would be considered a enoughhigh compression to benefit from 110 octane?
it would take a lot of compression and timing to NEED that octane. Something that none of us have. Hell my car runs just fine on 93 with 10.5 cr and 24* timing.

its all basically in the tune, think of it this way......... how do all these sport bikes rev to 4 bajillion rpm and have compression ratios in excess of 12:1. they are very acurately tuned, i mean dont get me wrong, you put 87 in a new sport bike and you are gonna have problems but this just goes to show that technology allows use to push the parameters and limits back of the line between race gas and pump.

Leaded fuel will ruin your o2 sensors and cats.

You get no benefit from running 110 octane fuel. It will never add power only save your engine from blowing up. Higher octane fuel burns slower so when the pressure and heat build up in the chamber detonation wont happen as much. Every engine has detonation all the time and there is nothing you can do about it but its not all dangerous until you start to hear it.

waste of money unless your trying to cure a detonation problem and in that event its just better to back the timing off. the only benefit i would see would be on a boosted car because you would be able to add a lot more timing.
And that's where an intercooler and/or meth injection comes into play
