Default 2002 GT starting problem

Hi guys. I have a 2002 GT that will not start. It clicks repeatedly, but does not turn over. Initially, I thought battery but could not get it to jump.
That would lead me to believe starter. Is there any way to be sure of the problem? I don't have a code reader, nor do I know anyone with one. What do you all think? Thanks so much.

Take the battery and starter out, take them to your local autozone. They'll test both.

Is pulling the starter going to be tough? It's cake on my lifted pickup, but on a mustang?

Ok, but is there even the possibility that it could still be the battery even though it will not jump? It's the original battery on an 02. Then again, it's the original starter on an 02.

its most likey your starter..Have your battery tested first by like autozone or somebody if its good then it could be your starter..also check your battery connections. Your starter is a 3 bolt design. Its not really hard but is a pain. Best thing is to take off passenger wheel and put jack stands underneath to access better

Alright guys, thanks for the input. I had the battery tested and it was declared dead. Bought a new one and it cranked right up. Why it wouldn't jump remains a mystery. Thanks again for everything!

I had the same thing happen last spring when I took the car out. The battery was completely drained and all it did was click when we tried to fire it up. We just charged it and it was as good as new!!!
