Default Air bag light

I have a '97 GT, I removed the stock steering wheel, now the airbag light is on. How do I get it to turn off? I tried removing the fuse(s) under the dash, light is dimmer but still on. Can I just remove the bulb behind the instrument cluster? Or is there something else I need to do?

Thanks, I'll try it. Did you hook up your horn with the new wheel? Did you retain the stock clockspring? Any info would be appreciated.

I did not keep the clock spring. I didn't hook up the Horn Either but the wire's are there if I want one. and I plan on making my own Cruise Control bottons. When I get a chance[:@]

Placetwo 4.7 Ohm resistors (1/4W or 1/2W is fine) in parallel across the air bag wires (gray/onange and gray/white on an '03) and the resulting 2.3 Ohm value will trick the air bag controller into thinking the air bag squib is there and working--light off...The clockspring will have to go with any standard aftermarket wheel I've seen, it's a big chunky thing. The MOMO hub I used has three brass slip-rings for horn/etc. I made a custom carbon brush and holder from a 3/8-16 nylon bolt and an old spare electric drill brush to feed the horn.
