Default Engine or pulley whining when cold

ok, when i start my car up when its cold out below 20 degrees i get a LOUD whining sound at idle for about a minute until the engine warms up a bit, then goes away (basically it sounds like a procharger at 20lbs, lol, no joke!!) then if its about 30 or 40 degrees out and the engine is cold is doesnt whine at idle, just when i rev up each gear when driving. then goes away after a minute.

i thought that it was the belt, changed that, no cigar. WTF, lol.

also i am selling this car at the end of March, so i want to fix it!! if you want i might be able to take a video, depending on the weather (temp). my next guess would be one of the two idler pullies.

I had the same problem on my old gt and swapped out the right side idler and the whining went away! What side is it coming from!?

I had the same problem. Mine sounded like a bearing in a pulley. Changed both idlers...nothing. Only happened in cold. Changed belt nothing. A friend changed a belt about a month later, i was like yo lemme try this belt on my car quick, it was agaterback. No noise. If you didn't put a gaterback in, go to autozone and pick one up $33.

its sooo hard to tell, lol. ill re-pack the two idler bearings this weekend. see what happens.

the belt was easy and cheap to replace, so thats where i started. i am 99% sure its not the belt. ive hit both the new and old with some dressing, nothing.

Yeah, I'd try the Idler pullies. I had the same problem a bit ago and replaced the passenger side pulley. Fixed it right up. At $14 per pullie, you can't go wrong.
