Default 12.3 upgraded to 4.30 what will the outcome be.

i did a 12.3@116 sprayin in my 97 gt. with 3.73 gears. well i just bought a set of 4.30's and 31 splines to go with it. do u think it will help my 1/4 mile or hurt me. all opinions please. because im putting them in 2morrow

yeah, im guessing youre in 4th now. at what RPM, you might need a new trans ( geared differetly ) nice excuse to buy a T-56 ( 6 speed) or you can do with a different size rim and tire combo.

have you put in new valve springs w/the cam? if so, with advanced rpm capability i think it'll help.

exactly. 3.73's in 96-00 cars with the T45 gives you a top speed of 120 in 4th. trapping 116 i'd imagine you are close to redline. changing to 4.30's will force you to shift into 5th, unless you switch to a really tall tire to gain those mph back. so because you'll have to shift into 5th, it's going to hurt you.

when i cross the line with 3.73's it is at 5750rpms when i spray. but i shift at 5500. if i changed the shift points to like 5800 would it give me more rpms to use at the end. and i will be sprayin in 5th so it will still have some power

having to shift again is where you are losing time. you're not fast enough to need to shift into 5th. if you were trapping high 120's or faster you'd need to. 5750 in 4th gear sounds about right. shifting into 5th @ 5500 right before you cross the traps is pointless, as you can stay in 4th and not even hit redline when you cross the traps.
