my mustang is broken.
so the other day driving to school i was at a stop light turning left. i started going thru the turn at like 15 mph and all of a sudden i heard a loud clicking noise. i pulled over to the side of the road and started looking for problems. after looking around a bit and not finding anything i decide to get it towed to my mechanic's shop. i go in to check it this morning and he says the spark plug has been forced out of the head stripping the threads. now, wtf can cause this? has this happened to anyone else?
thanks in advance!

wow - only going 15 mph? That really sucks. I don't know what could have caused it....man, ripping the threads out and all?

I've heard about this on some otherpostings. It's something to do with the way the heads were designed and how they had poor threads. Do a search through the postings and see what you can find. Good luck.

alot of modular 2v's have this problem....luckily though for most of us, it doesnt seem to have effected mustangs nearly as much as F-150's, explorers, expeditions etc etc....it all has to do with poor head design....i've heard you can pretty much have it heli-coiled all you want but it never really sets right and often happens multiple times
if you can swing it, start saving for some heads from mph or something...since an average joe mechanic will probably charge you enough money that you might want to consider new heads....
just my opinion.....

I have change sparks plugs on many 99-04's and if you use the right extension, I use a 13", a 10 and a 3 together, this way you dont have to take the fuel rail off or anything. Also us a spark plug socket and it helps save the plugs from breaking into pieces while installing it into the head.
