Default rotating assmebly or new short block??

alright well on my car now i have a few bolt ons and a KB at 10psi and lookin to upgrade the boost..should i just go the cheaper route it seems and get a new rotating assembly and cams and maybe new heads or get a new shortblock?? with heads and cams.how much rwhp can the stock shortblock handle(with forged internals).. my goals would be right around 600rwhp so nothing too extreme. i know its not gonna be cheap but lookin for the cheaper rout but deff reliable. thanks

Yikes....600rwhp is not too extreme?

holy ****

If I were you I would look for a forged shortblock, just because I don't know for sure but I doubt the stock block can take 600rwhp.

lol well i guess it is pretty extreme but some people here talk about 700 or 800 or even more like 20psi or twin turbo or all that..im just sayin i want something that would hold up to 600rwhp because i will not be goin above that..my goals are 14psi on the KB..stage 2.5 or 3 blower cams, prob stage 2 heads and maybe just maybe a little n20 but nothing abov 600rwhp unless ^^^brings me there which i dont think it will without the n20..

You may have a tough time getting there with the stock heads/cams. Either way, this will probably be expensive, but you may as well get a shortblock and some heads and cams.[&:]

Goto MMR and get one of their short blocks.

+1, MMR or FOXLAKE, or JMS are all great engine builders.

i'd go with something like the MMR 900 shortblock, the rotating assembly is all forged and can handle well in excess of 600 hp, and i think it uses a cast iron block instead of an aluminum block, but even the aluminum blocks can handle 600 easily. if you wanted to go the long-block route, MMR also offers stage I and stage II ported head options, you'd just have to replace the cams. or you can go with the shortblock and get Patriot Performance stage II heads for about $1300.

I gave him the idea of the rotating assembly, its all forged, how would just the block its self not hold the power? The block its self just real thin?
will the block its self with all forged internals on 14 psi be ok about 550rwhp

some of you don't read or don't understand.[/align]

No, we understand. You don't. It is cheaper to just buy the short block. Plus (most of the time)you get a warranty. If you bought a rotating assembly for $1800+ or if you get a good assembly, $2000+, you just can'tdrop it in. You have to get the block machined which can run an extra $400 to $500.And unless you know how to do everything your self, you would also have to pay someone todo the assembly. Would you get a warranty? probably not. At MMR you can buy a short blockthat could handle 600hp for $2400 and you get a warranty. I sound like a salesman for MMR but I’m not. So going with a short block is cheaper, easier, less time consuming, and limits how much you can screw things up.

However if you want a learning experience, assemblingthe engine would definitely do it.
