Is it possible to put a 03/04 Cobra engine into my '00 Gt?

and if so, would I have to swap my tranny for the 01+ ?

Yeah, because after I'm done all my appearance mods, instead of tuning a GT I'd rather just spend 4-5 grand and dump the Cobra engine in there. I bought my GT for so cheap that I'd basically be getting a Cobra for super cheap.

if u can find a cobra eng and tranny for 4-5 grand more power to you

Basically if you have the money to do the swap, you have the money for a Terminator.

Ballpark 10K just to get a running 03/04 Cobra engine and trans. Generally you're not going to find a deal, anyone whos selling an 03/04 Cobra motor knows what they've got. And even if you do, you're not going to find one at half price.

If you want to spend 5K, buy a supercharger, exhaust, and gears, and you'll run with stock Cobras.

03/04 Cobra motors sell for 6k easy you just hae to do a little research.

Technically you could run your tranny with a 4v motor you would just need a different flywheel/clutch


Im not at all trying to be rude here guys but please dont post on subjects that your not perfectly clear on. It just persuades someone from doing something that could benefit them. To the O/P YES!!!!! It is very possible to install an 03 motor into your GT, I would recommend going with the T-56 as well but you could still make it work with your 3650. I know of someone who personally retained their stock GT PCM chipped and tuned it to work with an 03 motor/trans, If you dont want to go that route you could always buy the cobra pcm and core your GT one. Also a couple other things I would recommend changing over would be the cobra fuel tank and pump assembly possibly just the pump, you might also want to look into the radiator and A/C condensor. (which will help with engine temps). If you need anything else I'm sure I can help you with it, if I dont know I can definitley check with someone else who does

Oh yea and a "biggie" I left out depending on what tranny you decide on you'll probably need a driveshaft.

i'm not sure how much you paid for the car, but after appearance mods and then the Cobra engine, you'll still have other costs (new computer and wiring harnesses probably, dyno tune, and other hardware that may need to be swapped). but i'd be willing to bet that it won't be "super cheap". for just a couple thousand more you could have bought an '03 or '04 Cobra. but i'm all for the idea of transforming your GT into a 4v. if you're up to the task of doing all the work, then go for it. and please don't put tell me you're putting some fast-and-the-furious-ish body kit on the car
