I didnt that one worked, i said if it actully made 2-3lbs of boost like it says in the add it would work. I have see some home made electric superchargers that do work. None of them come close to the power of a mech supercharger, but to just make a blanket statement that they dont work is just ignorance, they work, just not very well in comparision

A cheap one like that does absolutely nothing. The only ones that flow enough to make a difference are a couple hundred, and even then you only see a couple pounds of boost. Don't waste your money.

the cheap ebay ones like the ones on topic DONT work. we all know there are some that do, but they are not the 50$ hunks of crap on ebay.

hell theres a guy that hooked a leaf blower to his car and gained horsepower from it. it proves nothing as far as the topic is concerned.

To create 2 psi boost on a 4.6 L engine, at a lousy 4k rpm, would require 4.8 HP just to compress the air--this does not include the addtional power needed to overcome rotational inertia of the blower, frictional and drive losses, or air flow restrictions in the inlet and outlet to the blower. 5 psi requires 10.6 HP just to compress the air (I can show the math behind this if anyone is interested). Here's a link to Magnuson's web site showing the power requirements of the MP112 blower, you can see that at 5psi/8k rpm blower speed (2x engine speed) the bloweruses 16 HP.A 5 HP DC motor would draw nearly 300 A from a 12.6 V source, and require wires as big around as your thumb. My point is that there is absolutely no way that the eBay guy's 1/10 HP (if that) bilge ventilator could possibly create 2-3 psi boost--even at 0 rpm. I.e. he is a lying sack of crap, like everyone else claiming to have $100 electric superchargers. Electric superchargers have been made, here's a good article about a real one (I have no relation to this fellow). He usesthree 5 kW (6 HP) motors, drawing a total of 600 A at 24 V, to drive a M62 Eaton and can provide a 3.5 L engine with 10 psi at 2000 rpm, and 3 psi at 6500.
