Default To F/I or not F/I?

So, I picked up a '99 GT...now, it has 115K on it, but is in beautiful shape, runs like a monster, and has been really well taken care of. Been doing various bolt-ons, TB/plenum, X-pipe, cat-back, 4.10s, MGW shifter, etc. Here's my question. I want to blow it...nothing crazy, just 8-9 PSI, something to give the car a serious kick in the pants. Can my motor handle it, or am I asking for trouble? Please, if you aren't sure about how to respond to this...don't kill my dream! Really want to solicit opinions from anyone who can give me a firm answer. Thanks all!

If you have the money, I say do it. Get it tuned properly and you should be ok. There are people in here who are blown and have just as many miles as you do.

as long as the engine is in good shape, i'd say go for it. with that setup, you will probably hit somewhere close to the 400 hp mark, which is completely safe for the stock crank, rods, and pistons. if you start to creep up closer to 450 or 500 though, you'll need to consider a forged bottom end. if you want to keep the stock bottom end (crank/rods/pistons) though, just make sure you don't put ported heads or wild cams on there because that will REALLY boost your hp.

Thanks guys - my goal is round about 400 hp mark, I don't think I want to go much more than that for a DD. I'm really keen to do this! Bonus time in spring. :-) Awesome, thanks for the views!

I definately agree, go for it. Just make sure your motor is in good running condition first, which it sounds like it is.

you engine can defiantly handle 8-9psi, you will need to replace some other parts soon after though(clutch, fuel pump, etc)
but your engine itself will hold up witout a problem

Is your mustang burning oil? How long is the clutch?

Swap the fuel pump for a SVT pump or GT supercup; Change your injectors, I recommend 42lb;

If your running great, exhaust not smokinghorrible, andif your car isn't burning oil etc, then your safe for F/I. I have and absolutely love Procharger. Ease of install and you dont have to tap the oil pan, its intercooled, the list goes on. I am just under 400hp. You might come to hate your 4.10 though. I have a feeling your going to have traction issues, unless you have somewide sticky tires. You will find out quick if your car has a weak point once you almost double the HP! Have fun with it and dont beat on it all day every day.
