Spec clutch
 

I was thinking about ordering a spec stage 2 clutch for my 1997 mustang gt. What do you guys think? Good idea or not? What is the feel of the clutch like?

What are your intentions for the car and how much power are you putting down.

I had the spec 2 on my old 00 gt and I liked it. However, the pedal is very firm. My pedal was stiffer than an 03/04 cobra clutch pedal...by quite a bit. If you are going to go FI like I did then it would be worth it, otherwise go with something lighter on the foot.

id go with spec stage 1, it works fine. no need for 2 unless your gonna boost it.

Ok here is what i plan on doing:
1. forged internal
2. patriot stage 2 heads
3. blower cams
4. Votrech intercooled supercharger

I should be putting down a decent amount of power with that setup.


SOHCtimes2, how hard would you say the clutch was when you were driving your car? Hard enough to make your foot tired on a short drive of what?

Not on a short drive...I live in SoCal, so it would only really bother me when I was in the ridiculous traffic you face every day on your way home from work. Stop and go not going any faster than 10mph for a solid 30 minutes and my foot would start to hurt.

yours must of been adjusted, when i had the spec in my other car, it was perfectly fine, my friend has a spec in his ss, and its perfectly fine. and 97stang id go with the spec stage 2 then.

I def agree to go with at least a stage 2 if you are going to be going FI. You should be putting down quite a bit more power than I was.

Might wanna think about a Centerforce DFX. That's what I put in mine. Very nice pedal feel for street driving, very aggressive for racing at the track.
