2003 or 2006 mustang??
I love the specs of the new GT500 coming up. But I have a 2003 GT, I want to know If I should save all my money from this point on and not invest anything into my 03. I like the front of the 06 but I dont like the sides and back as much as my 03. I love the interior of the new mustangs. But I love the looks of my 03. Here are my plans for my 03 are.
$15,000 Cobra motor twin turbo charged
$10,000 Griggs Racing World Challenge Suspension
$ 5,000 Big brake kit
$ 2,000 Saleen body kit
$ 2,000 Wheels and tires
Thats $34,000
And then figuring my care will be worth around $10,000
So thats about $44,000 when my car is the way I want it. That will be about the cost of a new 06 Cobra GT500. And my car will be so much better performance aspect.
But what do you guys think, Should I just not bother and save for the 06 Cobra??

Doing it all myself. I will probably buy a long block or a crate engine. And have a professional weld in the frame kit by griggs. Other than that, everything else I will install myself.

You'll feel better having a badass 03 GT project car, then a stock 06 cobra. Although it would be sweet to have a new cobra, I think you would have more fun modding your car. Plus, with all those mods you will be putting out some serious power and look great! Mod that 03!

Keep the '03. Nothing special about buying the Cobra if you've got the money. I'd rather do the mods and have a one-of-a-kind. With all that you said you were going to do, you'll be puttin the Cobra down, anyway, if that's your goal.

You guys are right... Thanks. I would eventually have to do mods on the cobra and that would be an additional thousand of dollars. But I do like how the new mustangs suspension are completly re-engineered. the 05 GT pulled .9 G's on the skid pad and the 03 GT is .8 G's.... But the 2000 Cobra R pulled 1.0 G so the potential is there!!
