Yeah its worthless... Till you break your almighty t45 trans... with 400hp... I don't know about you but i will never rebuild a t45 and i would never try to make that trans any better. syncro's are junk, the input shafts are junk and the main shafts are week. T56 or tk600 is the only thing worth upgrading to when you break the pos t45

sorry to post twice but you will run into speedo problems on the t56 cause they are electronic. give that shop a call they might have a manual speedo piece for the trans.

^ Agree with the above. It really depends on your application. I am shooting for 1,000hp+ and would go for the t56 to make the car more streetable if you know what i mean! T45s are great transmissions andcan be built to handle high HP.

I think it might be worth it if you go with the Viper spec T56, but not the regular cobra/fbody one. I destroyed the 3rd gear syncro and blocker ring on mine at less than 400 rwhp, not that big of a differance between 350 and 400 hp, at least not for the $2500-3000 the swap will cost. Yes a TKO5 or 600 is $2-3000 but they are bulletproof.

Right, i like the TK600's and the only problem is the TK500's have a very short gear ratio. and they are a 5sp

That short first gear is what gets you out of the hole better. I guess I just don't really see the point of a 6th gear, I had one and almost never used it. The OD ratio in the 5 speed is almost the same as the OD ratio in the 6 speed.

The TKO 500's first gear is nearly identical to the stock 1st gear in a 45 or 3650. You are much better off with the first of a 500 than a 600... its going ot take lots of power and/or rear gear to get moving with teh 600's first gear.

The advantage is, on the viper anyway, you can run a much higher gear ratio in the rear and still get decent RPM on the highway.

As for the fbody/cobra stuff... the advantage is (IMO) that nice middle gear between 4th and 6th giving you that extra shove at 120+
