Default HP chip! Good idea Bad idea?

So I have heard a little about these so called HP chips. I looked them up and they seem pretty cheap from what I remember. So my question is are they worth it? My stang is my DD and all I have on it is a BBk CAI and other cosmetic stuff. So should I look into buying one or should I not even waste my time and money? I will eventually buy a new car for my DD and put the stang in the grauge for nice days so I do want to eventually super up. But for now I want a decient amount of power for a DD.

even if they're cheap, i wouldn't waste the money on it. for the mods you have, i doubt you'd have much to gain from a chip, but if you want to get something i'd get a SCT, Diablo, or Sniper tuner. since you're planning on more mods in the future, you'd get more use out of one of those tuners than some over-the-counter chip.

yeah there really are not "cheap" power adds for the 4.6, so if money is tight, then i wouldn't spend it on a chip cause you may see a couple horsepower gain at best. you'd be better off saving up for a real tuner. you can usually find a used XCal on ebay for a decent price, you'll have to have it unlocked and i'm not sure how that's done but i'm sure you can contact SCT about it and they'll tell you. just out of curiosity, how much is the HP chip? do you have a link?

Just a couple I just found real quick....Why I thought you said they were not worth it......You trying to trick me into not getting one while you get one so my car is slower then yours.........just kidding

Since your car is an automatic, I guarantee a handheld tuner will be very much worth it's price. Get some 4.10's and a tuner and you will feel like you are in a different car.

They help out that much. Someone else can fill you in on the technical aspects.

My first time at the track I raced another automatic GT. He had stock gears, an aftermarket tune (Predator I think), and a couple of other small bolt ons, like a Mach 1 shaker system. I had what I have in my sig plus catback, X pipe and CAI. I was running consistant 13.8/13.9's (Still sucks, but o'well) and he was running consistant 14.7's.
