Default What shocks/struts?

Alright, so I bought a '99 GT a few months back, and have been busy doing all the usual performance "bolt ons."

I've been doing some reading and searches on suspension, but can't find the complete advice I am looking for. Thoughts appreciated! So, when I bought my car, it was lowered. With what, I have no idea, but I think it could be as much as a 2 inch drop. They may be Eibach springs, but I can't say for sure.

Had the car up on a lift a few weeks back, and looks like it still has the stock shocks and struts up there - one of which appears to be leaking. So it's time for a suspension upgrade, at least as far as shocks and struts go.

Here's my questions:

- Based on the reading I've been doing, it seems like while there are personal preferences out there, everyone has good things to say about Bilsteins. Do I need to order a particular type of Bilstein shocks/struts given my car is lowered?

- My car is mainly used on the street, straight line. So I don't need to go crazy. But are there other suspension mods you all would recommend that I should take care of while I have things apart? I've read some people say rear control arms, but others say it's a waste of money. What about the front? I'm on a budget but if there are things I really should tackle, I'd like to do so.

Appreciate thoughts!

most of your decision should be based on WHAT u r gonna do most with the car.........and always keep in mind that u get what u pay for.........maybe do something adjustable

If you get wheel hop currently get some lower control arms for sure.

IMO you can't go wrong with any name brand really, but the biggest thing is that adjustables > all.

I have the strange 10 way adj shocks and struts and could not be happyer. They are under 400 bucks to the door, fully adjustable, and work great.

You can basically change the resistance of the shock/strut to what you are doing.

The strange's have 10 settings, from full soft to full hard. I can set them to "drag race"where it will allow the front end to come up and transfer weight to the rear. Then, you can change them to "daily driver and they will resist body roll but still give and give a decent ride. Then you can adjust them to full (close to it anyway) stiff so you can corner carve a bit, they will resist any body roll ALOT but will give a very bumpy ride.

Basically gives you the best of all three worlds, drag race, DD, and cornering that is.

Huh, interesting. So people would recommend adjustables then. I'm just not sure I'd ever use it. What brands are good? KYR?

I'm also lookin at doing the shocks and struts. while im in there i was thinking of doinga coil over conversion. Just wondering what benefits the coil over has vs the stock way? also wondering if the MMR coil over kits work with the strange 10 way's shocks and struts?

edit:
just saw UPR has a kit as well
