Default system is running too lean in bank 1

My friends 00 GT has been trowing codes for a few weeks now. He has tried cleaning the maf sensor and using bg 44k fuel sytem cleaner, and the lights still on. his obd II codes say PO171. He took it to advanced and they said the code was "system is running too lean in bank 1." Is there anything else he can do to try and fix this problem?

Thats a pretty ****ty code. There is actually a TSB for 00 Mustang on how to take care of this code... and its a LONG test. lol. Could be anytihng from a bad MAF, fuel leak, exhaust leak, intake leak, o-ring leak, PCV problem, vaccum leaks....

What does TSB stand for? Where should we start on getting the problem fixed?

yes, its a technical service bulletin but the dealer won't usually tell you about it. You need someone like Casper to tell you and then you go to the dealer with it.

ALLDATA will also give you ALL TSBs and other helpful information for your car if you register. I have found it quite helpful.
