You've got a bad lash adjuster. Takeoff the valve cover and start the car. Findout which one it is and replace it. Use cardboard or something to control the oil splater.

ok i went and ordered the lash adjuster now im trying to find out how to install it... it looks like i need a tool thats $111 ... is there any other way to replace it without removing the cam? dont wanna remove the cam but at the same time dont wanna spend $111 on a tool im going to use one time...any online place that would rent it? or any member here that could rent it out to me?

i gotthe toolfor about 70 through amazon. I know the lash adjusters arent cheap, but you might as well replace them all if you can afford it. If one is bad/stuck chances are the others arent far behind.

you'll also need a decent size compressor with a fitting to fit the spark plug hole. various sockets/extensions/etc.A magnet on a stick helps to remove the keepers (have fun getting them back in). Should probably replace the valve cover gasket. Be careful not to drop the valve into the cylinder.

Its that easy if you have the tool. Just push down on the spring and the rocker comes out. Then the tappet will just slid out. but make sure you do one at a time because you dont want to get them mixed up.

alright, so i just need to get ahold of the tool and it should be a quick easy job then? he made it seem way more involved ... not thrilled about buying a new tool, but gotta pay to play i suppose, and it will be nice to have incase it ever happens again....what do the lash adjusters do exactly? its been tickin for awhile but it still runs and performs just as good as it ever has

Lash adjuster is like a hydrulic lifter but self adjusting There are no bolts holding the rocker thats why they come out so easy. You can pop the rocker out witha screw driver but good luck getting it back in with out the tool. I took out the one on my old engine and caught hell getting it back with out the tool. I got it in but it took some time and a little rigging.
