I have a 99 gt with 145k miles on it. my trans needs a rebuild and probly a couple new gears. im thinking that the repairs on this will be $700+. Does anyone know where i can find a rebuilt t45 online. I have been looking for most of the day and come up with nothing so far. Thanks for the help.

i plan on just having mine rebuilt by a friend who rebuilds them, think parts are $250, and labor = 300. and i may put a diff over drive gear in to have the rpms drop more in 5th.

how hard would a rebuild be? my car has a lot of miles and when it needs rebuilt i want to do it myself, my buddy has a 98 gt and his tranny locked up on him, put it into first and it just stuck there, had it towed to the dealer and they charged him 1800 to rebuild it, and that wasnt even a full rebuild, just rebuilding what was busted

Thanks for the info guys.
Dude your buddy got taken to the cleaners. You can get a remaufactured one for under $1000. I have a couple friends that have rebuild c4 and c6 tranmissions but im not sure how hard a t45 would be.

yea i told him he got raped, but he didnt seem to care *his family brings in 2-3 mill a month* only reason he even drives the car he does is because his parents make him work for everything he has *they helped cover the tranny rebuild though*

as long as your careful and your patient and you have like a garage with good lighting and you wont lose any places, you can do it yourself, you just have to be complacent of where crap comes from and how it went on and stuff. after a rebuild it becomes like 2nd nature, i rebuilt a t-5 but i dont have access to the rack like i had when i had my fox.

When the time comes, I was thinking of bumping up to the T56 (which is for the Cobra). Looks to be a pretty heavy duty tranny handling up to 425 lbs of torque. Anyone do this on a GT yet?

It does become like 2nd nature. After I rebuilt my first T5 my buddy had one go out on him. I was showing off and trying to get it done quick until I caught one of the snap rings in my eye! There are so many snap rings, too! Anyone who has rebuilt one knows what I'm talking about. [8D]
