Default 1999 GT With cupping wear on tires

I just installed new Cobra wheels and tires on my gt, I noticed the old front tires had a bad cupping wear to them and were noisy. The car rides extremely well, so it is hard to believe the front shocks are bad, and I do not see any leaks around them. Any suggetstions? If I do have to replace the shocks, what shock is reccomended that will ride good and not wear the tires out? Thanks, Tony

If your tires are wearing more on the outer edges of the tire and not in the middle. Your tires need to be inflated more. If theres more wear in the middle of the tire and not on the outer edges your tires are over inflated.

You mentioned the car was riding fine before. Did you put the last set of tires on your car or when you bought it was fine? If the shocks or balance were fixed AFTER the new tires but before you bought the car, damage done. Once cupped, tires are done.

Something else to consider is the tires were out of balance.

Discount tried to convince me once that my new tires were cupping because of a bad strut (car only had 20K on it when I got the new rims and tire) I told them to take the rim w/tire off the car and do a balance check on it with the existing weights before I even look at the suspension. They went round and round for about an hour with me on it. They finally gave in..sure enough..tire was unbalanced.

They went ahead and replaced the tire.

Thanks, for the info, I had the struts replaced and the car realigned with new camber plates.
