Default 4.6 Crown Vic swap to 96-98 Mustang

Hello,

We are looking for advice on what changes and improvements are mandatory and those suggested on a 4.6 swap. We are a high school shop class in Texas and we had someone donate a 94 Crown Vic 4.6 Police Interceptor to us. The car was wrecked but the engine is a low mileage Ford remanufactured engine from 8/07. The 4R70 we do not want to use but it has less than 3k so we are going to try and sell it for funding. We are looking at purchasing a 96-98 Mustang with blown engine to put this in along with 5spd. We are not sure what all needs to be changed for sure to make this a pretty easy plug and play job. From pics and what I have read the intake and throttle body are different on a Crown Vic, and the heads are not the PI heads. We just want a fun, daily driver with some added horsepower. Can someone make some suggestions for us and hopefully give us some ideas on whathas to be done and for added suggestions for this swap. We have found a 96 Mustang with no motor but has 5 spd that we are trying to purchase. If we change to PI heads do we have to change cams or anything? What intake and throttle boddy would we need to find? Headers? Type of clutch and flywheel? It looks like the accessories are in the same location on Mustang and Crown Vic but not real sure. Would appreciate any known experience and suggestions from Mustang folks.

everything should mate together, you'll just need what is visibly obviously different, such as the throttle body you said. If you have the engine out I'd suggest getting PI heads for it, you don't need to change anything, but it may bump up the compression (depending what pistons were put in the crown vic, pistons in pre 99 blocks will have a higher CR when PI heads are used on them)
